We believe that the resources that we have are gifts from God which he invites us to share with our community. In addition, as stewards of God's creation, we are called to make wise use of our resources.
So, in 2008, with these two goals of sharing and stewardship, we broke ground in our church "yard" for our first community garden. Covenant Garden now hosts 13 gardeners who grow food for themselves in their own plots. In addition, some of the food grown is donated to local food banks.
You do not have to be a member of Covenant Church to garden here... in fact, the majority of our gardeners are neighbors who were just looking for additional space for a garden. Together we enjoy creating beautiful gardens and sharing knowledge and encouragement!
Every fall, returning gardeners have the option to re-register their plot for the following season. Plots for new gardeners, when they are available, go every year on a first come, first serve basis. If you are interested in having a plot next year, go to the Goodwill Grows website (goodwillgrows.org) to be placed on the Community Garden wait list. There is no requirement for joining and registration and fees will be collected once you have been assigned a plot.
The Covenant Community Garden is pleased to partner with the Community Garden
which includes 8 community gardens throughout the Fox Valley
serving over 700 individual gardeners each year.
The Community Garden Partnership is part of Goodwill Grows.
