Jun 2, 2019What Kind of King? Part 2By: Mark PluimerLast week we considered Jesus' approaching Jerusalem on Passover week and considered what kind of king Jesus was/is. Today we conclude that consideration with the remainder of the text gaining a fuller image of Christ the King.Pastor Mark Pluimer. Becoming Disciples through the Gospel of Luke. What Kind of King? May 26, 2019What Kind of King? Part 1By: Mark PluimerOur text in Luke today occurs on the 1st day of the Passover Festival as Jesus and the crowds reach the crest of the Mount of Olives with Jerusalem awaiting below to the west. The excitement in the crowd was palpable as they saw Jesus preparing to enter Jerusalem, the king of the line of David that was foretold. But what kind of king were they expecting, and what kind of king is Jesus?Pastor Mark Pluimer. Becoming Disciples through the Gospel of Luke. Luke19:28-40. 05/26/2019

May 19, 2019What Are You Doing with Your Mina?By: Mark PluimerToday we consider another parable Jesus shared while approaching Jerusalem from Jericho. Consider with us the foreign king who was made ruler over a land, how some reacted to his kingship, and how others used the resources entrusted to them.Pastor Mark Pluimer. Becoming Disciples through the Gospel of Luke. Luke 19:11-27. 05/19/2019.

May 12, 2019The Seeker Who Was SoughtBy: Mark PluimerToday in Luke we consider the story of Zacchaeus, a man of short stature and a penchant for extorting money from his fellow Israelites as a tax collector for Rome, who had heard about Jesus coming his way and sought a place to see this Jesus, the one who cam to seek and save the lost. Consider this story of the radical grace of salvation that led to a radical response of transformation: from extortionist to philanthropist.Pastor Mark Pluimer. May 5, 2019The Blind Man Who SawBy: Mark PluimerToday our continuing walk through the gospel of Luke brings us to an encounter near Jericho. A blind man sitting alongside the roadside hears a commotion approaching, learns it is Jesus passing by, and calls out to Jesus for mercy. Consider with us the eyes of faith this blind man had, allowing him to see what others failed to see.Pastor Mark Pluimer. Becoming Disciples through the Gospel of Luke. The Blind Man Who Saw. Apr 21, 2019Understanding the Resurrection through the Prophet IsaiahBy: Mark PluimerHe is risen! He is risen indeed! As we reflect on Jesus' resurrection--real, physical, historical--today we do so from our text in Luke in which Jesus predicted his coming crucifixion as it was predicted in Isaiah 53.Pastor Mark Pluimer. Apr 14, 2019Which Path Are You On?By: Mark PluimerToday we consider in Luke the encounter between Jesus and the rich ruler who asked what it takes for a person to enter the Kingdom. God requires perfect obedience from each of us concerning our relationships with other people and foremost our relation with God Himself. Consider with us how things of physical living can be barriers to right relationships, especially with God, and that that which is impossible for people to achieve is possible for God.Pastor Mark Pluimer. Becoming Disciples through the Gospel of Luke. Which Path Are You On? Luke 18:18-30. 04/14/2019.

Apr 7, 2019The Subversive kingdom–White Trash Singing HallelujahBy: Mark PluimerIn our study of Luke we see that continues the motif of how the Kingdom of God is an inversion of expectations. Today we consider how the Kingdom is given and how it is received: as an infant or toddler. Grace is the condition, not innocence nor purity of the recipient and certainly not by individual ability to earn it.Pastor Mark Pluimer. Becoming Disciples through the Gospel of Luke. The Subversive Kingdom--White Trash Singing Hallelujah. Luke 18:15-17. 04/07/2019.

Mar 31, 2019The Pharisee and the Tax CollectorBy: Mark PluimerToday's study in the Gospel of Luke regards the prayers of the pharisee and the tax collector. Consider with us that God rejects those who are pridefully self-righteous.Pastor Mark Pluimer. Becoming Disciples through the Gospel of Luke. The Pharisee and the Tax Collector.
